Hello Parents, Students and Community Members,
My name is Beth Schwarz and I am the Parshall School District Superintendent. Folks frequently ask, "Where are you from?" This tends to be a tough question for me as we moved around quite a bit. The quick rundown is: I was born in Sturgis, Michigan; moved to Underwood, North Dakota when I was 2; then to Herman, MN after my second grade year; next, Grand Forks, ND 1/2 way through my sophomore year where I left for college after my Junior year. I attended Gustavus Adolphus College, graduated in 1988, but remained a dorm parent for an additional 5 years, thus I often refer to Gustavus as my home. I spent 17 years in the classroom teaching Chemistry/Physics and developing science research programs. I have been an administrator for 11 years; serving 4 years as a PreK-12 Principal in Cottonwood, MN at Lakeview School District and 7 years as Superintendent of Cook County Public Schools in Grand Marais, MN.
I have four children. Benjamin teaches Math in Atikin, MN; Jacob is work on this masters in chemistry and teaching the University of Minnesota, Duluth; Elijah is currently looking for work in the Parshall area and, Anika just graduated from High School and is headed to St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. The picture below was taken at my niece's wedding in December.
The first day of school is, Thursday, August 18 and I look forward to meeting staff on the 16th and 17th. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, private message me on the Superintendent's Facebook Page, or simply call the office and make an appointment to stop in and visit with me. (Drop ins are also welcome, but I may not be available.)
Best wishes for a safe and relaxing remainder of summer break!
